A. Rule 601a in the USA Hockey Rulebook states:
"Any player who challenges or disputes the rulings of any Official or endeavors to incite an opponent (including taunting) or create a disturbance during the game shall be assessed a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. If the player persists in such challenge or dispute, he shall be assessed a misconduct penalty(10 minutes), and any further dispute by the same player will result in a game misconduct penalty being assessed."
For players who have problems with some of the refs calls and want to make a positive impact on Adult hockey the next officials' seminars will start in mid August. WE WILL POST ALL SEMINAR INFO AS IT IS ANNOUNCED
Rule Reminder: Spectators
The game will be stopped by game officials when parents/spectators displaying inappropriate and disruptive behavior interfere with other spectators or the game. The game officials will identify violators to the coaches for the purpose of removing parents/spectators from the spectator’s viewing and game area. Once removed, play will resume. Lost time will not be replaced and violators may be subject to further disciplinary action by the local governing body. This inappropriate and disruptive behavior shall include:
1) Use of obscene or vulgar language in a boisterous manner to anyone at any time.
2) Taunting of players, coaches, officials or other spectators by means of baiting, ridiculing, threat of physical violence or physical violence.
3) Throwing of any object in the spectators viewing area, players bench, penalty box or on ice surface, directed in any manner as to create a safety hazard.
*** NOTICE: Effective February 15th, 2013, all players must have numbers printed on back of jerseys in all games, at all times. Players failing to do so will be assessed a 2 minute minor penalty at start of game.*** UPDATE: uniform numbering violation rule excludes players from teams that are using alternate sweaters due to opposing team wearing similar/same jerseys.
Players must attend seven (7) of 15 (Winter 2014 Super Season) /six (6) of 12 (Winter 2014 Weekend Suffolk) Regular Season Games to be eligible for Playoffs:
Only players who are listed on teams' roster submitted to the league office, have paid the $24 insurance fee and have signed in at 50% (7 of 15 and 6 of 12 games) of team's regular season games are eligible to participate in playoff games. Players who participate in a playoff game who are missing any of the above listed criteria will cause their team to forfeit either immediately or even retroactively if the league office later determines that ineligible players played in a playoff game. NOTE - Injured players can come to games and sign in with scorekeeper(indicate injury) or supply league with letter from doctor detailing injury and how long player will be out - Letter must be submitted before games that injured player seeks credit for attendance.
Click on the underlined games to view Facebook photos and videos of both teams in action! If you see yourself, tag yourself!
UPDATE: As playoffs approach we saw the need to realign a few teams between divisions based on game results to date. The Blues-40, Helldogs, Cyclones and Cougars(Weekend team) have been moved to different divisions. Where we can (highest and lowest divisions offer little or no room for movement) we try to place teams where they and their opponents will play consistently competitive games.
SHOOTOUT PROCEDURE: Each team will be given five shots, unless the outcome is determined earlier in the shootout. After each team has taken five shots, if the score remains tied, the shootout will proceed to a "sudden death" format. No player may shoot twice until everyone who is eligible has shot. If, however, one team has fewer players eligible for the shootout than its opponent, both teams may select from among the players who have already shot. This procedure would continue until the team with fewer players has again used all eligible shooters.
Playoff Notes: 12 game season is single elimination - 15 game season is double elimination (only for teams advancing past wildcard round).
All players must present picture ID* - don't want to take wallet into rink? make a photocopy of license.
*Strictly enforced – Last year two non-rostered, under-age, players were caught attempting to play in place of eligible players.
Due to nature of playoffs, where each game has to be played to determine the next match-ups, we cannot change games.
